Apex Legends is a new Battle Royale game created by Respawn Entertainment set in the universe of Titanfall. The game takes place after the events of the Titanfall 2 campaign and sees squads of 3 face off against one another to be the last ones standing. Players will be able to choose between various “Legends” who are characters with different abilities similar to Overwatch or Black Ops. This should lead to interesting team configurations adding a layer of strategy to the somewhat overplayed genre.
The “Legends” aren’t the only twist being added however, as there is a way to bring your fallen teammates back from the dead by picking up a card dropped when they die and bringing it to an exposed respond tower. This somewhats Lengends apart as in most Battle Royale games once you die your round is over. With the additions comes one glaring omission there are no Titans in the game. Which perhaps is a missed opportunity to really make this take on Battle Royale stand apart. The game play presented in the announcement stream seems otherwise frenetic and fast paced which should please fans of the series. At least that is what Respawn is hoping as they confirmed yesterday that Titanfall 3 is not currently in development.
